The Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration has launched the Food and Safety and Standards Act 2006 and Rules and Regulations 2011. On-line Food Business Operators Registration and Licensing System on Tuesday 31st January 2012 at the auspicious hands of Principal Secretary, Shri. B. Vijayan, IAS and the Commissioner of Food Safety Goa at the Conference Hall of Secretariat, Porvorim – Goa; in the presence of large representatives from the Food Industry, Hoteliers Association, Goa Chamber of Commerce, Press and Print Media.

The Principal Secretary also handed over the on-line generated Certificate of Registration and Licensing to four Food Business Operators selected from both North and South – Goa. The On-line Registration and Licensing software which was designed by the NISG (National Institute for Smart Government) and the General Manager, Shri. Murthy gave a detail presentation on the working and process involved in the said on-line System. Goa is one of the three States which have been extended the above on-line Registration and Licensing System in addition to Maharashatra and Gujarat as a Pilot Project in which the vendors could file their applications on-line and also track the movement and process of their application.

Director, Food and Drugs Administration, Shri. Salim A. Veljee, gave a detail status of the existing application receives under the new food regime and the steps initiated to generate wide awareness on this matter.
